I never get the trope of "parents that doesn't listen to their children and / or never believe them".
It's used so often that it gets absurd, like, it's so difficult to hear them before judging? Why do you parent think that they start to make problems / hit people / whatever "just because"?

It’s probably because it’s a very common thing overseas, while I have no evidence of that over the years I’ve seen people talk about where these tropes and stereotypes originate from.

It’s also a very easy writing device but I think it’s definitely more than that.
