Two timelines, this ones definitely happier for the readers. I mean the other would be better to me if not for the "used to love" line. Just sends out this whole bittersweet remorseful kinda feeling.

Come on guys, this ending is a lot less realistic and terrible for the family left behind. The true one managed to reform the poor girl's family into a more functional one and gave us a hint that the loan shark was living the life he wanted anyway

I prefer this ending, it's so cute XD

My friend said if the series ended this way, it would turn out to be cliche and typical but meh, who cares

I love this ending way better than the other one. It makes the manga sooooo much more worthy of reading over and over again even though it's short

This ending would have required a longer manga to feel realistic. If the mother had actually died, this might have worked if the kid hadn't seemed so happy.

@0neDragon: It's actually not that uncommon in Japan, IIRC. They have a lot less hang-ups on intra-familial nudity when it involves pre-pubescent children.

@Bramia: I question the claim of it being "unrealistic", since it's perfectly realistic for the mom to turn out to be truly so uncaring about her daughter's well-being and so self-centered that she'd willingly give her away to the first person to offer to take her in (which usually turns out badly for the kid in question, because more often than not the one taking them in is planning to abuse the hell out of them some way or the other).

I agree with this translator (good job by the way don’t let other people bring you down) the true ending in my heart is where he can properly raise the kid in a safe negligent free environment.

Though the kidnapping part is a bit of a no no.

Thanks for translating this, even if you'll never read my comment! :)

tbh I think the other ending is better, but this one is nice nonetheless

Much better and realistic, no way a woman would take care of their child just because a random man went full dogeza in front of her, if nothing else she would extort him. lmao.

that woman.... oh, I am sorry,
that THOT will never take care her child.

never EVER EVER, she probably will just throw her to orphanage or sell it.

this may the better ending.

@Bramia: He did, actually, after asking the girl - well, it was less "ask the mom's opinion" and more "plead with the mom to fix her life for her daughter's sake". This chapter could conceivably take place after the girl chose her mom and the guy informed the mom of that and plead with her to clean up her act, only for the mom to refuse to change her ways and ultimately decide to dump the daughter (maybe because she sees her choosing Mommy is "evidence" that she's a "parasite" or something).

Everyone that is say say this chapter or that chapter is more realistic. Neither is realistic. A random guy can't just take a kid no matter how terrible the mom is (both psychologically and legally). A terrible mom won't just reform because some random guy did a dogeza.

If I have to pick which sounds a bit more realistic. I kinda have to go with the previous chapter. Because there's more IRL anecdotal stories of moms reforming than random people rescuing. Plus there's more IRL anecdotal stories of just the kid growing up functional (or functional enough) by themselves. So it's also possible she grew up decent because she willed it herself (or maybe the mom became just functional enough that the daughter did the rest).

note: as stated by the author, that last color page isn't part of the alternate ending; i like to think that they were able to reconnect after the original ending.
