I work with animals and there are multiple 19-20 year old dogs running around quite happily. The oldest on record was in their 30s (aussie cattle dog). As long as you feed them right they can live a long ass time. Remember dogs struggle to process cellulose and have no natural requirement for dietary carbohydrates. All the dogs that are doing the best are the raw feeders.
Wha-? Why the abrupt time skip? I thought there would be more story behind her acclimation to having a family. That was about as jarring as Hinamatsuri's time skip.
Chapter 1 had a time-skip portion as well. The base story is centered on the memories around how Julia met Dan and their subsequent life together, but it looks like there will be bits of the "present" shown to highlight differences between the two periods in Julia's life.
