Will the course of this story become something like 50 First Dates? Like they will regularly come to a point where Ayana will hit her reset button and Riku has to start things up again?

Yeah it seems that way. Her gyaru transformation was probably one way of her unconsciously having a makeover so she won't be able to remember how she really looks like (which probably reminds her of that time). This would be tricky because the MC himself is potentially a re-occurring linchpin for her breakdowns moving forward.

I don't think Kana would be supporting Riku this much if she knew he also started dating Haruno and is technically two-timing both her and Ayana. Hoo, boy. I still don't know how this hasn't been axed yet. One of the rare times I would've been happy to see a manga axed, and axe-kun should've visited immediately after Riku and Ayana started dating.

I'm starting to suspect that maybe this was some black history story the author started writing in school, shelved out of cringe and then unearthed out of desperation and published as a novel, and later adapted to manga to make a quick buck.

To be honest, the "two timing" was because he was told the truth, that her family was responsible for killing his.
He absolutely hated her at that time, he spent his time with Haruno as friends, nothing more, he was even bothered by her constantly being in love with him.

So, technically it was unrequited love of Haruno and his friendship with her.

Think it's like "50 First Dates", but instead having short memory loss due to brain damage, Ayana has her memory loss due to traumatic experience with her parents suicide.

Kuromine will have to be very careful snapping Ayana out of her coping mechanism world, because she will get into a psychotic breakdown whenever triggering memories will snap her back again.

It's a similar setting as in "Wives Who have not Yet Passed Away" where past trauma of FMC made her locked inside pretend world, safe from all the horrors she experienced. Recommend reading this, but be warned.
