@Arakuei: I mean, wasn't it officially part of the plot that she looked (more or less) "just normal", though? I thought having the "plain" protagonist actually look decently plain was something commendable on the artist's part, given how difficult it appears to be in practice to show that restraint XD

Although nearly everything since then has gone against that with everyone saying she's gorgeous, admittedly, but shoujo will be shoujo I guess (to be fair—we presume she has very good dress-and-make-up people working for her now).
