1. Just because Elkin has been stabbed doesn't mean he isn't going to be used as a bargaining chip, so that's still on the table for now.
2. Uncle did command some of his subordinates to take Therion away, and Therion immediately broke away from them. That seems like slightly defying his uncle in public. But there's a big distracting fire and he was also sort of crouching at the time so that's not quite "standing up" to his uncle yet.
