1. Yes he is
2. Yeah but probably there’s more to it since the story hasn’t expose the whole story yet. I believe there must be something more since MC did say it was an accident and Ivanov said he realised it but still couldn’t accept it or something along the line
3. You mean Maria? She has been friend with him since his errr hunter school time and in chapter 1 we saw them working together as partner. She is also in Union like him. So probably she knows him best.
4 & 5. because the strongest normal hunter only go until B-rank if i remember correctly from previous chapter as he quit after that (from previous previous chapters where Maria was explaining to the CEO, I believe she might even actually talking about our MC). Above those ranks are usually filled with knights, mutants, awaken etc I think. You are not wrong about him being stronger than the rank imply. Iirc from the novel, because he is just a normal hunter, with no special power or anything similar, he had to rely on his skills and equipments (including that blueish thing he injected himself with to probably strengthen himself, i’m not sure). And the stronger he is, the better equipment he needed, the more money he needed to spend on them, maintenance and so on. Eventho he earn a lot of money while still being a hunter, he also had to spend a lot of money which I think influence him to change his job to a manager. On the other hand, for knights, mutants, awaken and etc, they got their natural blessing so they could cut cost in that part.
