@degenerateafro
Not me messing up, the top players in the game more or less found out how to play the game, dps is king and anything not facilitating more dps is worthless.
case in point, they put some hard content out a few years back, one of the guilds that was in the top 10 bought a 18~player stong raid force to kill a mob, the mess up, didn't have the dps, everyone died, and they be bat phoned me and my friend in because we had a time limit of 10 minutes from engage to kill the mob or the entire zone was unplayable due to the mechanic being a bit bugged.
He played a tank that could heal itself, and I played magic dps, they batphoned us at 7 minutes into the encounter, and the mob still had 50% of its hp... the long and short of this is, we rolled the mob because even being a freshly played up caster class, I know how to stack buffs for more dps, and he was able to hold aggro on a mob that would kill you instantly.
Most groups im in, I have to actively stop dpsing because the tank has no idea how to properly keep aggro, so while I would normally be doing 80000-150000, in a group without my friend of the top players, I can only pull 10000 at most otherwise the tank cant tank. my friend would pull 20 mobs at once in group gear because he knows the defensive skills to hit and when to hit them allowing for aoe killing, most other players pulled 1 mob at a time and would 50/50 bite it, missions where we finish it in 7 minutes other people finished it in an hour and a half.
What i'm saying is in most mmos, I find that most people have no idea how to play the game, and wont adjust how they play to be better, while I learn how to stack skills to get more out of them, this in turn causes more aggro, which also in turn force me to either not do that or get a better tank.
Now, when I say profoundly stupid, the most recent one was when we pulled in 4 mobs, and I hit them with an aoe attack on impact because I had some dmg multiplying skills ready to hit, this made one of the mobs explode but the other two that only got aoe damage from that, turned on me and I was on the floor almost before they could animate looking at me, I cant even blame him as a tank for that, I did that skill way to early into the fight.
@flannan yea, when stiff like instant kill comes in its when my friend usually bows out for the rest of the expansion if its a constant thing. me and him like actively playing, hitting our skills, and doing damage, not opening our bag, equipping mcguffin and emoting 'oh what a glorious sun it is today' to counter a deathtouch. when that happens It kind of just removes fun from the game, hell, most of the game mechanics kind of ruin rpgs, you know, the mechanics that make absolutely no sense outside of its a videogame roll with it.
