@Liquidxlax in my case, no insurance really limits options till something is bad enough to be outwardly visible my understanding of what I would need to do is go to a crap load of doctors and try to build a paper trail to get on assistance programs, this alone cost to much with a real possibility of being denied any any stage. At the very least barring the times something comes to the forefront, I can live relatively normal.
as for why... food and water, you largely can't escape getting crap in you that you otherwise never would.
@zeroxjac I can only really talk about my own pain, but I have a good 10-15 minutes before that's it, I can't go on longer. high high activity states in the manga so far has been flipping a wolf, using magic, fighting some wolves, and short bursts of running, if the only point of pain is one area that you could shift weight away from, there's no reason to have it be crippling where its a constant focus. its also portrayed that everything he is doing is quite a bit beneath him. I lump this into the category of when you see someone who sustains a career ending injury still being great at what they did, they just are no longer at their peak due to it.
