@Richman As I promised once, I am officially declaring open for inscriptions the once in a lifetime Touhou tournament of MangaDex, only available in the forums. You are free to advertise it elsewhere, either on the heretic Discord community, Hell (Reddit/etc.) or on a different weeaboo community. It will only last for a limited amount of time, since everyone wants to be free for winter holidays, so this is intended to be checked periodically. Now, let us move to the rules.
Competition format.
Depending on the number of participants, everyone can submit up to 4 or 6 works (to be determined on the eve of the first round), which must meet the following requisites:
Competition format.
Depending on the number of participants, everyone can submit up to 4 or 6 works (to be determined on the eve of the first round), which must meet the following requisites:
- The picture must be related to Touhou and preserve the spirit of Touhou. This means that any prominent characters that appear must belong to Touhou universe (foreign elements are allowed as long as they do not take protagonism). In case the topic of the picture is the scenary itself, it must be a genuine place from Touhou franchise.
- Valid sources: manga series pages, doujinshi, novel illustrations, fan artworks from art sites, your own art, art book pictures and videogame screenshots. It is strongly recommended to provide a link to the source to validate the authenticity of the work (main reason: avoiding duplicates). The use of AI is banned and your existence will be annihilated.
- Every submitted work must have a title. The choice is yours and this will be an element to be evaluated.
- The total amount of rounds will be of four (4). There will be a podium of winners (3 places) and one honorary mention.
- Any works must be submitted between November 1st (00:00 GMT+0) and November 8th (23:59 GMT+0). First come, first served policy in case of duplicated works.
- The rounds will start and end at the same hours each period. The first two rounds will last TWO weeks (November 9th to November 22nd ; November 23rd to December 6th) and the last two rounds ONE week (December 7th to December 13th ; December 14th to December 20th).
- Results will be announced between the 21st and 23rd of December.
Who can participate?
Anyone who can understand the rules and is elegible to make an account on MangaDex can participate, it does not matter how many tournaments they have rigged and how many bribes have paid in the past. Bots and anyone who uses Alexa, Gemini, ChatGPT or any other chatting bot to do homework and assignments is forbidden from even set a foot here. It is not allowed to delegate this work on another human being like your personal secretary or your public relationships subordinate: even if you are some country's president/monarch, you have to do it yourself.
How inscriptions work?
You must submit at least one valid entry in the appropiated thread once it opens (I will give the "okay" reaction to the post as a confirmation). If you can also check the "Yes, unmistakably" option this post you will be doing a good deed, as I can start making calculations for the number of submissions ahead on time. It is easier than trying to "read the vibes".
What kind of pictures can I submit?
Regrettably, only Safe For Work pictures, which means no genitalia, no sex scenes, no complete nudity, no gore or any kind of extreme content. Two girls kissing passionately while hugging or holding hands is perfectly fine, girls sunbathing in bikini is fine as well, a character crying because their ice-cream has melted or fallen to the ground is safe as well. Just in case, I am going to offer examples of what is good and what it is definitely not.
Which prizes can I get?
Besides our love, any user can offer awards for those who place as the three finalists as it is customary in these tournaments. From my part, I will make a selection of my favourite art works (mainly NSFW) and send the links to said winners. The only deadline for these is before December 20th, but to boost motivation it is recommended to submit them before the first round starts.
When? Why?
Reread the post, it is in the rules section. As for why, besides that promise, because this will be the last forum I am active, so I prefer making it memorable. Please, tag all the users that may be interested, I am sure our benefactor @Richman will not mind all the pings and increased traffic the site will have (imagine that). From my part, I will be as biased as possible to break the ties during the rounds, favouring those kind of works I like the most. If I were to disappear in action, someone will take my place to make sure this tournament ends well. Personally, I will submit works just for fun.
Now, let the magic of Internet happen!
