I like the moral, being a blindly altruistic hero is nice in a fairy tale but for real people it’s just masochism. Throwing yourself at the horrors of the world to save strangers for nothing is something no one can do without already being broken. The most you can do is protect those around you, the ones you love and cherish. As you protect them, others might see your example and follow it, everyone cares for someone or something and in doing that we all care for one another. It’s also a kind of fairy tale but one that’s easier on the individuals spirit.
