I like the moral, being a blindly altruistic hero is nice in a fairy tale but for real people it’s just masochism. Throwing yourself at the horrors of the world to save strangers for nothing is something no one can do without already being broken. The most you can do is protect those around you, the ones you love and cherish. As you protect them, others might see your example and follow it, everyone cares for someone or something and in doing that we all care for one another. It’s also a kind of fairy tale but one that’s easier on the individuals spirit.

While it's just a fantasy story, its really just one of the thing people learn as they become an adult, when you have the responsibility and commitments, one must find a way to balance out the loads to stay healthy, otherwise you can become broken like MC by just blinding following a belief.
