OK so this is my opinion after reading 15 chapters- I am getting really tired of the FL ignoring all the bs people say about her. Yeah it was funny once or twice but hearing her self-deprecating attitude all the time is just not ok?? I'm glad the ML is not encouraging it, we all had a phase like that but the point stands that everyone should grow out of it. Your self esteem will NEVER improve as long as you talk like that, you have to take active steps towards bettering yourself and changing bad habits such as self deprecation. It's not coping, it's just digging a deeper grave. And tbh I don't see why 99% of the women in this world look down on her? She looks cute and she's conventionally pretty, as seen in the 'transformation' chapter when she just dresses more nicely and curls her hair and everyone swoons over her. Is everyone being an ass just because she wears glasses or what??? Because I don't understand the message the author is conveying here.
I don't even have the energy to get into her personality- yeah she's a writer, she wants book ideas, all good. letting people trample over her left and right- not so good. Going full fangirl/yaoi lover mode on other people around her? also not that good. There are cool and interesting moments when she makes sense and everything is going well then we have other exaggerated situations that make me forget the good stuff. 70% of her attitude is basically just..13 year old fangirl who writes f/m and slash fanfiction of real people, and I thought we left that behind in 2012 you know. Yes she has compelling traits too but the author is overshadowing them with useless stuff. It took the main couple 13 chapters to just communicate normally. I truly don't see any chemistry between them. She likes him 'cause he's handsome and nice, he likes her because she's unconventional and honest. You could match up hundreds of other people with the same traits (or maybe not, since the world building is dead set on bullying our mc for wearing glasses). Anyways, there's almost no build up on their relationship, maybe that will happen in future chapters.
As it stands, I'm not sure if this is worth reading- if you're young or want something light hearted you can pick it up, but don't romanticize bad behaviours or praise the shabby writing for something that it's not. It's not a bad manga but it doesn't do anything better than all the other generic historical/noble fantasy romances out there. I suppose some tropes used were a pet peeve of mine so maybe I'm too harsh of a critic. If you're already out of manhwa to read (very good romances out there) and you're looking for a light hearted cute manga, try "Majo-senpai Nippou", "Zense Coupling", "Kuuki ga "Yomeru" Shinnyushain to Buaiso na Senpai no Hanashi ", "Yankee-kun to Hakujou Gaaru". They're not historical romances but there's already enough manhwa to pick from in that regard.
