People need to chill a little on the hate of his CHF lmao
You guys gotta remember she was originally in love with the MC when they were kids, it's just at some point she just got...used to his kindness and eventually shifted to using his webnovel as a coping mechanism for trauma.
So when the MC confesses to her all of a sudden, she thinks it's just a joke and makes some jokes at him, that is until he said he was the author of the novel she loves...to her, not believing him...it just comes off as her CHF trying to use something she holds dear to her heart as some made up BS to try to claw her back after she already declined him.
This is only natural, why would you believe your childhood friend you've known for 10 years is the number one author in the world and is the person who made the work you've been reading for years? You'd think he would have told her at some point?
Like yeah, she could have seen the signs looking back (seeing him happy every time she complimented the work), but that's only after the fact looking back....it's not like he ever TOLD her who he was, which is pretty much impossible unless he kept it a secret for whatever reason.
As for her being mean to the MC...honestly that's just a trope. This is pretty common for female childhood friends to be mean to them, I just view it as mostly friendly banter, kinda like how male friend groups often have people shit talking each other. I don't think she genuinely meant anything she said up until the point where she got really mad about him "pretending" to be the author of her favorite work.
Remember...this girls mother died shortly after birth, and her father literally abandoned her before she was even in elementary school....that means she basically raised herself along with the help of the MC and presumably his parents. That's a lot of trauma for a little kid to go through, I can give her a bit of a break for lashing out like that. It would have also helped if the MC proved he was the author when she asked him to prove it then and there, but instead of proving it in a verifiable way, dumbass just shows a word document as if anyone couldn't copy paste it....he could have proven it by making a tweet on the social media of the author and she would have believed him lmao
That being said, it's better than she rejected him there, because had he actually proven himself, she wouldn't have had so much character growth. Now she actually recognizes that she just got so used to him being around that she didn't really appreciate him for who he was and always has been. It's those reasons that she loves him, not just because he is the person who wrote the novels she loves.
