dont forget this girl was spoiled and had as much love as she could ever want, but the thing she needed and didnt get was her sister. Philia was kicked out at 5 and trained for 10 years, and Mia was shown to be 15 already when she debuted, so for pretty much all her life she never got to see her sister.

Then Philia is praised as the ultimate saintess, and when Mia snuck out to see her and almost got killed, coincidentally Philia was the one who saved her. To see the sister you've only heard rumours about and rarely get the chance to even glance at her suddenly save you from a near-death experience would be pretty fascinating, i'd bet.

Mia remarks herself she was a spoiled child, she doesn't know all that Philia went through as their parents kept it hidden from her. She just knows she went through "10 years of training".

And then...(major spoiler)
The knife reveal...

Mia "Why does my parents treat my sister so badly"
Aunt "Because she's not their child. The family needed a girl to be a saintess and at the time they didn't have a child, so they took her FROM ME"

Then Mia was born, so they no longer needed Philia and was all too happy to dispose of her. (also partly driven by the father's PTSD/inferiority complex to the aunt since Philia looks a lot like her real mom)

(btw back then while the aunt was out doing her saintess work the father was a pos who spread lies about her and eventually got her kicked out of the family so he could be the family head...yes, that trash kicked out his own sister THEN stole her daughter 'for the family')

Philia: making friends, teaching, eating sweets, learning how to be happy after years of neglect and exploitation.

Mia: REVENGE ARC TIME, VIVA LA REVOLUTION
It's a good parallel arc too, in reverse directions. Philia has put in the work and has endured (and is enduring) great hardship, and is now enjoying recognition and small joys of life earned through that.

Mia lived a good and happy life and is now working towards protecting the things she loves or what makes her happy, or solidifying what she believes in and what she should let go of.

This keeps getting better and better.

Go, Mia, and bring the hammer of justice down upon them all.

I find it strange that she would all of a sudden adore her sister like that and want to follow her path.

Like she said, she barely knew her and it felt like she was a relative but all of a sudden she became a super groupie??
Isn't that what always happens with us and public figures? We barely know them, only know surface information, and yet we be super groupie for them. Bashing each other head on forum and such, defending person that doesn't need our defense.

I suggest you read again and REAAAALLY pay attention to that part.

Hint: hyphens.
Uh ... she literally screamed in her mind, 'Oh, God! Save me-!' She didn't say, 'Oh, Philia! Save me-!'

Now, it could be debated what she was about to say before getting interrupted, hence the hyphens, but at that moment, she called out to God first.

Up until that moment, even though Mia has heard enough of Philia's accomplishments as a saintess to gain praise by the people, she really didn't have enough reason to call her for help as she had a severely estranged relationship with her. It's like how Christians praise how great and perfect Jesus is, and although some people outside of the religion may heard of him and his accomplishments, it doesn't mean they'll jump on the bandwagon to follow him so readily.

Really don't know what you're trying to show me here.

Huh, Mia kinda had a Sasuke arc here. She found out what happened to her distant but heroic older sibling that she loved and admired and resolved herself to follow in their footsteps but in a different way that the older sibling themselves wouldn’t agree with.

A few pages later she starts with a thought and a name. Yes, God was her first thought, but then who she thought about being saved by is… although coincidentally, still pops up.

"My Way" is unironically perfect for this chapter. Thanks for the TL and the insert song recommendation.

Mia shall now become the mighty villainess to strike down corruption within her kingdom. Splendid.
