The dark atmosphere is ruined because they omitted, erased or changed so many things from the original source material, including the main character's own personality. He's a completely different from his novel version, who is edgy, apathetic and mentally unhinged. Heck, he's supposed to be barely sane after leaving the 1st floor after experiencing extreme mental and physical anguish. We're literally losing the psychological aspect of the novel, that is supposed to be one of the main highlights of the story. A majority of the Korean readers themselves have been complaining about this on The Tutorial is Too Hard kakakopage, no one is going to enjoy the story going in this direction if we continue like this. It's painful.
