The UN is once again pressuring Japan to censor manga, anime and video games.

I once again ask, what even is the UN
United Nations, a worldwide organisation where almost all countries (the few ones that don't want to participate are the only ones not represented) debate to coordinate global responses. You may see them in humanitarian missions, it has an "army" just for that.
And yes, they are more worried about cartoons than actual pornography, human trafficking and prostitution rings.

the UN's generally good when it comes to customer protection and saying no to megacorps.

everything else is in general a fuck up.

Did they also complained about violence in movies and video games 20-30 years ago ?
Of course not, that's freedom of creation and clearly fiction, moreover they benefit Occidentals. Nothing comparable to white & black drawings with Chinese characters, a lot of lines, impossible logic and unrelatable bodies, if they wanted to write acceptable fiction they should have made patriotic super heroes or gory stories like those from USA-Europe comics. Even with deepfakes and AI porn it causes more concern if an imaginary character does not align with their hypocrisy standards. Of course the UN has its good things, but it seems they need to balance their actions to be neutral... this way.

Of course not
Mm, yes they have actually talked about violence in games. Particularly in relation to violence against women and girls as well as violent extremists using games as a recruiting platform.

They also have findings on games' positive influence on societies.

The whole answer is sarcasm.
