I'm a sucker for these types of stories but I always end up pretty disappointed since they often don't commit to the premise (or become sloppy later on) and change in a way that honestly doesn't feel natural

Hope this one won't disappointment me in 60 chapters
spoilers ahead:

Deculein is an “anything for the greatest good” character. Even the original guy is hinted to be more than the game made him seem. His goal is saving the world.
Concentration camps? Better than mass slaughter.
Killing every person in a town? He only pretended to kill the kids.
He does some truly horrific things in the later half of the novel. But his reputation is far larger because he knows he’s seen as a villain and actively uses that to do very harsh but necessary things. Pushing the fat guy in front of the trolly car so to speak.

Based on what I've read about the ending of this story, I think I'll skip it even though I've read 25 chapters of this Manhwa so far. I enjoy dark endings where the main character suffers because of his or her choices, but I really dislike forced "bad" endings that try to be controversial just for the sake of being unique.

Oh-ho? Now that's very interesting and explains his behavior like willingly going to throw everything away because hia fiancée said so. I hope this manhwa is able to pack its punch though, only time can tell

And honestly, so far, nothings big really happened too. Lots of good build up though

SonicWizard is right.

This author always does that with his novels endings, ALL of them.

It's his trait at this point, dude makes interesting stories and characters but shets the bed with the endings.
Honestly speaking I find most Korean novels do that... Though this author in particular seems to have diarrhea when he shits the bed.

Honestly I’d describe it as bittersweet, not dark. He suffers as he intends to, it’s all for a purpose. The ending isn’t ‘bad’ and almost feels like it’s too ‘good’. You will cry, but they’re happy/sad/satisfied tears.
That’s what people mean when they say it’s controversial. It’s too happy of an ending because they added like two chapters too many. It should have ended at the cabin.

I know it's an unfair comparison, but all 3 (Korean, Japanese and Chinese) writers are way too fond of following trends. Going with general summaries, stuff like Simon R. Green's series, the Dresden Files, The Wheel of Time and many others - all have plots that use very similar themes and character paths to what you may find in Korean webnovels in particular, but I never felt like there was a dozen other authors doing the same thing as them.

Sure, Eddie armouring up and going ham on someone may SEEM like something that could happen in an eastern webtoon, but I never saw Kim Protagonistman need to be hugged and consoled because he feels like a monster for how violent he got.

And even when some random Satou Maincharacterguy-kun feels a sense of ambiguity about whether he is still one of the good guys after his tenth massacre of sentient beings, it is resolved in a single arc at most and never brought up again, while someone like Harry Dresden has to struggle with the gray-ness of his actions growing darker with every book, while having no real choice in the matter, because he is a somewhat special mortal in a setting where his enemies are millennia-old satanists with Fallen Angels riding shotgun, queens of faerie, god-like vampire kings and actual old gods.

tl;dr don't ruin your palate with this slop, read a good book.

10/10 masterpiece, art good, story decent, character decent, interesting perspective that is different from most other common korean mangas. I haven't seen something so nice for quite a long time, hope it keeps up the pace.

this is super unrelated but the mc's design keeps reminding me of Gehrman Sparrow

Read the novel, and I'm pleasantly surprised to find out that it's been adapted. Liking the art and character designs too. Dunno why so many in here are hating on it though. It's neither Shakespeare, nor Sanderson, but its definitely top shelf when put up against other Korean power fantasy manhwas. One of the few ones that's managed to tickle me in the feels and get me invested in the side characters too.

Its a shame that reaperscans.com got taken down after 6 years due to a cease and desist, including most of their translated manhwas and manga series. Feels like a real step backwards. Fortunately there are other communities and translators that are still translating it! You just have ti look for it.
