@APinkFox Probably because this girl is so petty lol. Think about it: other villainess stories have the other MC (the one the villainess has to rival) being super innocent or super petty at the villainess's loss. But instead of rising above it, and you're right that Aria's story is fresh compared to the dozens of other villainess stories...
...Aria stoops low. Imagine you knew a girl (in school, at work, idk in the celebrity news) that:
[ul]-worked to steal someone's man under innocent pretenses
-started buttering up all the authority around her to be on her side
-seemed to shine brighter than her sister/rival, showing her up right when the rival was trying to genuinely show an achievement
-doing other petty things that normally are distasteful irl[/ul]
Inb4 "this is fiction, it doesn't have to be based on real life"
I still read this knowing that it's different from the typical villainess stories. But it doesn't make it any less cringy to see Aria work so hard to avenge her death by being an absolutely petty bitch with no genuine concern for those around her.
If you're familiar with Mary Sues, you might notice that Aria reads like one. Sure, the story sets her up so that she was incompetent in her first life, making her learn to be better in the second life for her revenge. But there's a trend of villainess stories (Cheating Bastards Must Die off the top of my head) where the transmigrated FL is pulling off these perfect feats, unfolding a perfect plan to bring others to ruin, that is so seamlessly perfect and puts her in such a bad light that only a Mary Sue can do it.
Just seeing either a petty woman or a Mary Sue in a story act as they do can be so grating that people can't really read it anymore. It's not enjoyable. If I saw someone else act exactly as Aria did, I'd think she's absolutely shallow and petty. And yeah sure she was straight up murdered so she should do whatever she wants (that's what this whole story is about). But the way she's written as a character is just so petty and distasteful despite her righteous motive for revenge. Even if it's fictional, some people can't help the off-putting feeling that she's a pretty dang awful human being, even if she has a good reason to be.
But, at least the art is good.
