Being able to move through the air can make the wall lost it's purpose, bring troops over untraversable terrains, recon, sabotage, assassination, transporting supplies,..etc...
For attacking head on, did you know people used to throw darts from the planes in ww1 ? That shiet can went through a metal helmet and also the skull like butter.
Also why do you think the only thing that can be dropped from the air is bombs ? What about barrels of poison ? Or oils ? Just spray it on the enemies and let them suffer from disease, or throw a torch and you'll have a bbq
And let say they do use just small bombs, do you think the enemy army have the luxury of keeping a protective barrier 24/7 ? A fast hit and run bombing can deal serious damage both physically and mentally to marching troops.
