Nobles get to ruin/kill a few hundred people. As a treatThat line about "Even if he's a thief and murderer that's not enough to punish him" got me wound up. That's some serious noble privilege.
It reminds me of current actuality, it's what is hurting me o.oThat line about "Even if he's a thief and murderer that's not enough to punish him" got me wound up. That's some serious noble privilege.
Now they're arresting him with a rich man's dignity instead of a poor man's violence. Too much talky talky, not enough choppy choppy.
Dude we see that shit today in many countries. Using the US alone, if any middle-class person was charged with the shit that Diddy, or Trump, or Epstein, or Hillary Clinton, was charged with we'd be in locked up for life but they have money, power, and connections and at most got a slap on the wrist. Well, Epstein was murdered because people with more power than him didn't want to be dragged down by his charges. It is known. I'm not surprised that it happened in fiction any more than I am in reality. I think what got me was how explicitly the King (who was previously seen to be a reasonable leader) said it in the story, to the guy's victims. It's like the king is saying "Yeah he stole from you Isaac, and murdered your employees, and he's a human trafficker, and Meldenique he's been trying to kill you for years. What can I do he's a Duke!" It makes the king seem powerless.Dude we see that shit today in many countries. counterpoint: This way his little sister gets to use the executioner's sword. Now they're arresting him with a rich man's dignity instead of a poor man's violence. Too much talky talky, not enough choppy choppy.
It's probably because the king is not as powerful as you thought. Duke Hesmann have a lot of supporter that would defend him if the charges is as "minor" as murder and trying to kill/stole from a fallen noble that's abandoned by her family. It's like the king is saying "Yeah he stole from you Isaac, and murdered your employees, and he's a human trafficker, and Meldenique he's been trying to kill you for years.
