Sometimes a soldier sacrifices themselves to save their comrades or the success of a critical operation. That's just how it goes in war. However, it should be a spur of the moment thing, a reaction to an unexpected incident. When an operation is planned from the beginning so that someone must purposefully lose their life to carry it out, I feel like it's no good. Here it was even dodgier because Relius was entirely left out of the whole decision making, yet the operation was all about buying him more time to get stronger. So he's deeply involved in it, yet only heard about it afterwards.
