Fortunately the situation isn't quite as urgent yet for Relius as it was for Argo.

An interesting question is why the sacred treasures drain the heroes' lifeforce, but blacksmiths seem to be okay.
The wording implies that it's a function of the hero class, not the sacred treasures themselves. If it was just the sacred treasure, then all of humanity would probably be subject to this, so it makes sense that blacksmiths aren't necessarily included.

If I had to guess a reason, I think it's likely to be the source of heroes' power. As in, heroes aren't actually just that much better/more powerful than other people, it's basically just a job that lets you create power by burning your life as extra fuel. Kind of the whole "the brightest candle burns the fastest" kinda deal.

Given, Relius has shown that he has similar levels of power when push comes to shove though, but I think it's likely that blacksmiths are just a special existence anyway. Considering Relius's demonic appearance in super-form and the fact that a thing created by blacksmiths (the blue stones) can only be destroyed by sacred treasures, it wouldn't be too surprising to find out that the sacred treasure of blacksmiths draws power from a completely different source than the rest.

That's what I'm thinking. If the stones are a way to replace a hero's life force, and a blacksmith can create blue stones, wouldn't that just transfer the burden from the heroes to the blacksmith?

If the story is going for coherent worldbuilding and doesn't want to make MC a uber-OP god-like entity, then the cost of using power can't simply go away just for him.

I got a feeling Relius will be able to harness the blue stone to its full potential which means the living being, or at least the heroes implanted with it won't completely change into a monster.

Or the author could choose the more cruel route. And we all know what that route is.

The blue stone was used to bring them back and it probably backfired. But what if it's used in their current, non weakened, form, would it be spent in place of their life form or would it corrupt their mind?

So to save all the waifus, he just needs to murder them all and shove blue stones in their foreheads. Got it!

I'm betting on why the weapons are connected to each individual's souls but because the blacksmiths are destined to only craft tools, weapons and such, they are removed from this dangerous cycle of life. There has to be a reason why it's specifically made for them and only for them to use it.
My guess is the blacksmith exists to give them a method to fight without using their lifeforce, and the sacred treasures are the "oh s***" button where they need to use them to overcome some overarching enemy.

And because blacksmiths were villainized they dont have that safety net like they should.

A blacksmith probably does too, but since the strength comes from what they create and not the weapon itself it likely isn't as draining

I wonder why it's only the Heroes' Sacred Weapons that drain their life force. Is it just the nature of them being that much stronger? Maybe their bodies can't handle the strain of the buffs?

...How the hell didn't they notice over the hundreds of years that a hero's divine weapon kills/weakens them over time?

You'd think people would see heroes that fight a lot suddenly getting weaker and dying might... I don't fucking know... be a clue as to something is off? And, if they did know, why is it such a secret that literally no one - even royalty - knows of it?

So I presume where this is going MC can make sacred weapons that won't use up the heroes' life force.
