I really hope the author is not trying, for real, to make the teacher just a clumsy, misunderstood person. There's a limit to how bad she can be, while still supposedly being wise and experienced beyond measure. Not to mention she would have seen the results with her own eyes, yet never did anything differently. Now she's falling even to the cheapest of self-deceit tricks of accusing someone else for her own mistakes, just to make herself feel better. The (fake) hero party merely was able to treat Lloyd like a disposable servant because the teacher had destroyed Lloyd's sense of self-worth. It's all 100% this master's fault. She has a wicked personality, plain and simple.

Right, so. I'd forgotten most of the finer details of this series, or indeed most of the details period, so I went back and reread (very quickly mind you, more like skimmed) the whole thing to write down mentions of the relationship between him and his master.

• Ch. 1 : her very first panel is her declaring she'd create an anti-aging magic, followed by his narration that she made him do chores, follow experiments and train from the wee hours of the morning, every day. She told him not to be overconfident since he was just a boy, then he says "Every day used to be like hell," followed by him fleeing to the city.
• Ch.2 : she forced him to drink when he reached legal age, until he threw up.
• Ch. 5 : she dumped him in a forest for a week with a small dagger and told him to "Survive till then."
• Ch. 9 : we discover her old party member was shadowing him, and his quip suggests Lloyd had been followed since at least his time in the hero party.
• Ch. 10 : she'd been drinking, which the aforementioned party member remarks Lloyd dislikes. She also notes she knows Lloyd doesn't like her. This whole sequence occurs as she fires off spell after spell in frustration, which the two remark would kill someone lesser. During their full party's talk, he reports that Lloyd thwarted the demons' plan, to which she responds with surprise. She wonders how he's doing, is shocked when she learns he'd been kicked out of the hero's party, and is stunned when she learns he's basically on her level now, in terms of support magic. He lightly chastises her, saying "Couldn't [he] use a bit more confidence?" She replies her overconfidence costed her a friend, and didn't want Lloyd to turn out like her.
• Ch. 20.2 (she was mentioned in passing in some previous chapters, but it was either mostly irrelevant or something that was already touched on before) : she's been hiding her true identity from him.
• (Ch. 28 : unrelated, but, oh yeah, Irena was the spider monster they captured. One of the many details I forgot.)
• Ch. 30.1 : as he wonders about why she picked him, he half-remembers he "did something" (which we now know was attuning to the holy tome) and that got her very upset (which we now also know why).

Barring the previous chapters (41.3 and 42.1), that's it. That's all the relevant info we're given about their relationship. She explicitly and deliberately made him an insecure mess and then had the gall to act shocked and appalled when he was used by someone who exploited those insecurities, further cementing them. Make of that what you will.

She's arguably just as bad. We all know how the story will eventually minimise the fuck out of her actions, it's so frustrating.
