For those confused why there is a third, 2022 version of this one story, that's because this one is the actual serialization of it.
The second one was a pre-serialization 'teaser' used by the publisher to gauge interest in the story.

As far as the publisher Kadokawa is concerned, it has nothing to do with the original web comic. They don't know or care how popular it is, it's the mangaka's own thing.

The second "series" wasn't axed, or this 2022 version would never exist — it was just a teaser to gauge interest in serialization — basically the usual pre-serialization oneshot chopped up by the publisher into 6 short chapters.
