@Kaarme Did you forget the story already or sth? It's explicitly implied that the left + right mages DGAF about the country. We were even given backstory about how they were outright broken people who were only in it bc of the archmage. In the past, Arcus NEVER opened its door, and now it tries to be chummy w/ the empire ONLY bc of the Archmage. Maybe they're smart, but they got dependency issues.

You would think Arcus would be a meritocracy to a significant extent. Maybe I should recheck the early chapters to see if it was nepotism that allowed them to, but with the old chapters taking minutes to load, who has got time for it?
