Shit, that's a rip off lol. For stray cat just buy them 3 different solid cat food (buy /half kg maybe around $1-2 each), shampoo them by yourself since stray don't need a lot of hair care($1/bottle for 3 month), and give them the normal shot from vet since stray are prone to parasite(5-10$).

He has no job, presumably no savings (I don't remember if it was mentioned), no immediate prospects, yet he's willing to adopt a cat and spend an exorbinant amount of money on it (almost $300 USD), yet he only buys himself a bento worth less than 2 bucks? His priorities are certainly not in the right place. Of course this is just a plot device to get him and the cat owner together as a couple...

Sad but true: the average birthday cake for a dog or cat is much more expensive than the average birthday cake for a human. (and unless you get the most basic version of everything, all the other supplies/equipment are also more expensive, like kibble/food, shampoo, bedding/crates, even antibiotics/drugs/vaccines in some places)

Clearly, this guy had no clue about the cost of keeping a pet before deciding to adopt the damn cat. If he did know, then it's even worse. No wonder he got laid off!
