i cant find any concrete evidence but the little results my searches yielded it would seem that a common species of cattail in japan is very stiff so maybe that is what they mean

薄 is used here as an adjective (pale/faint), not a noun (cattail, pampas grass).

So the statement would be,
"She's lost all color..."
or
"She's looking incredibly pale..."
or
"She turned incredibly pale..."

(I don't know Japanese verb conjugations, so I can't help you there.)

Well I thought the local hard drive is frozen and your tests are sent through a shared drive.
