Maybe I missed some things or they flew over my head, but it sounded to me like the "original novel" that the FMC read in her past life was a pretty shitty story to begin with:

If the 'villainess' was the novel's protagonist, she was torn away from her childhood friend who she had actual feelings for to be engaged to a turbo-asshole, who later takes in another lover, accuses her of stuff she didn't do, and forcibly cuts her hair short. Then her childhood friend is killed by assassins in retaliation for murdering her fiance.

If the prince's lover (traditional FMC in these otome stories) was the novel's protagonist, she falls in love with a turbo-asshole who secretly kils her cat to blame on someone else, and helps him frame his innocent fiance. Afterwards the prince she loves is murdered after the condemnation event.

Seems like neither of them get a happy ending in the original story.

Sorry for the wait, besides the enormous page count, I was also very busy with my IRL work. I'll finish this manga, no matter how long it'll take, so please patiently wait for it 🙏
Thank you for your hard work! (And congratulations on the job!)

Minor thing: the last panel of page 40 is missing text (I'm guessing it's supposed to introduce the king).

Actually, towards the beginning, she mentions that the whole prince-condemning-and-shaming-her is part of what sparks a civil war (and the war is what the novel is actually about). So, it's just back story for the novel. Like all those other works where the back story is extremely messed up — a number of which are actually quite good.

Most features which humans consider attractive are indicators of at least one of three things: health, wealth, or ability in traditional labour divisions. Leaving aside the last one:

Historically, somewhat chubby figures (à la Rubens) were preferred due to constant food shortages. Whereas in the first world today, svelte / somewhat slender figures are preferred due to the influx of industrially prepared food and less exercise. In either case, the preferred weight generally falls somewhere within the healthy range.

Pale (not pallid) skin, means that you're not a labourer. (In the first world, mildly tan skin means that you have down-time during daylight hours.) Blemishes and rashes indicate health problems (or at least allergies).

Both long, healthy hair and nails indicate good health and that you're not a labourer (again). Annoyingly, due to sex hormones, men have an easier time growing out their nails, although women do have an easier time growing long hair for the same reason.

Additionally, hair length and styles were often historically prescribed by one's place and standing in society — often shifting depending on your stage of life. (Common examples include child versus adult, unmarried versus married, childless versus mother, noble versus clergy versus burgher versus peasant, etc.)

Thus, the setting's focus on long hair as a standard for female beauty is only slightly exaggerated.

While this isn't really a villainess story, this does bring to mind the idea of a villainess story where the otherworlder themselves makes the noble lady into a villainess, which could be interesting.

All things considered, it was paced well, I got invested in the characters, and the plan didn't seem to have any obvious holes.

The page count was a bit hairy, so it's beautiful.

No complaints here. Just wanted to throw out a stupid joke.

I really enjoyed this one. The protagonist really planned all this on her own. I also really love her saying she wanted to protect her love interest instead lol she’s really assured and driven!! One of the better stories in this anthology
