This is pretty terrible. The author asks you to care about the MC. The author jumps straight to putting the MC's life at risk almost immediately and frequently, but the MC doesnt care about 1 being told they should never be born 2 having their species/motivation/"explanation for their horrible uprbrining" pulled out from under them.
