@ss4chris this is kinda old so I don't know how accurate it is, but apparently it was in Jump SQ a couple of years ago. Here's a link to an article that mentions it https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ne...-kentaro-yabuki-to-launch-new-project/.123496

The write basically said that the story wasn't over yet. The artist, however, doesn't want to work on it anymore, and moved on to do Darling in the Franxx.
The artist to this day still draws the characters (especially the girls) on twitter, but I honestly agree with him. The most salvageable thing about this series were the girls designs, and I'd hate to waste time drawing them with writing this lackluster characterizing them.

Kinda lame not gonna lie. And I expected it too.
Oh well, Mikan best girl, momo is runner-up because the writer forced her to give up her plan as the series began to approach it's """conclusion""".
If a sequel to finish this story never comes I wouldn't mind at all, as I don't see a point in a sequel. It started pretty strong with the harem ending tease but for some odd reason Rito still just wants to be with Sairenji only. If there's to be a sequel just make it a three chapter story of Rito "breaking up" with everyone and then just marrying Sairenji in the future or something. If the writer isn't going to develop Rito into becoming the "Harem King" that became so central to the movement of the plot in this series I simply don't see it happening at all.
Ecchi was top tier though, and definitely carried the manga when the writing was the most stagnant and frustrating. I'm just glad it's over now...
Heard the mangaka's wife was cheating on him while he was making this manga so he sidelined one of the girl that resembles her. Where have I heard this information...🤔 it's probably from you

That all occured back in 2009 during the first series. The info was from a Japanese forum post at the time.

Well, it ended as well as expected. And not just because I heard that it has an inconclusive ending. I'm actually fine with that ending and when it comes down to it, it was either that or Rito picking Haruna. I can't really see any other conclusion.

Which brings me to the two biggest problems of Darkness: The harem plan and Momo. The harem plan, which was doomed to fail from the start, since it's just not something that fits to Rito, should have been an arc of barely even ten chapters. Instead, it encompassed the entirety of Darkness, not always overt, but at least in the background, and it's its beginning and the end. This also causes Momo to become more and more unsympathetic as it went on, as it became clearer that the whole plan was just rooted in her being utterly selfish. But since the harem plan went over the entire series, her issues went mostly unaddressed until the end, where she doesn't even get better and just goes on like before.

So yeah, thanks to Darkness, Momo has turned from a likeable character to an utterly awful bitch. And the excessive "screentime" she gets over other, better characters, severely hurt Darkness. It's largely due to that that it's worse than the first series. Mea and Nemesis were pretty good, though.
Bro, I waited years for plot development and him to do the deed, and this is what we get in the end.
