I think the school thing was 1 day, but it also said she was going to be home for 3 days? If so that suggests the drive is not one that they're going to do for shits and giggles every weekend after summer vacation actually does end. It also sounds like during other times of the year, she occasionally throws tantrums from not being able to see her aunt whenever she wants to so that would support the drive being too much hassle to do whenever.
