Oh, the plot thickens. That guy is probably the grandfather of the MC who knows Russian or something like that. Either that or time travel antics.
That or he's a spirit or some sort of god that has formed quite an attachment to her.

I'm loving this manga but they gotta stop trying to make MC into an average nobody. Dude can do literally anything and has connections out the ass.
It's something I have noticed time and time again in so many manga. A guy is nearly (or actually is) superhuman but doesn't want anyone else to know and think of him just as some average nobody. Hell that is the entire point of Eminence of Shadow, just dialed up to 11.

I know Japanese people don't like standing out and troubling others, but to see it happen in a good chunk of the manga I read across many different genres, just leaves me scratching my head as to why they are so obsessed with the idea even in their fiction.

Must have something to do with the way they portray people with actual power and official position. They seem to be doing mountains of paperwork for much of their lives.
Fictional authority figures just can't seem to delegate responsibilities properly.

I love how this storyline looks like it could be the one where the couple gets together but instead it's just a flashback that happened before the story even started and everything else about their relationship we see is built on this

Not related to the chapter but I noticed that the title has been reverted from translated English to transliterated Japanese (ie Japanese written with the roman alphabet).

Why? It just seems needlessly confusing to have the titles in Japanese when a serviceable English version exists. Because I will remember the titles of stuff I read in English but almost never in another language.

this also bothers me as a casual reader because it also is an accessibility issue. although you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, its another thing entirely if you can't even understand what it is. as a result i typically ignore a lot of stuff because their titles are romanized.
