If they showed this. Some of his inner turmoil about confessing to her, then I would have more sympathy. Instead what we've been shown is that she likes him, apparently had got done time cause she was like.... he is finally asking me out on a date, never thought it would happen.

He likes her and wants to date her but there is no reason to hesitate to communicate, especially after the date, Tokimori herself pushing them to go on the couple's trip AND her speech. He got scared, which is understandable but hella disappointing when she has been putting in so much effort recently. I feel like you're giving him too much credit and her not enough cause she is aware of all of that as well and her round ass head been trying hard to convey her feelings without the shadow of doubt
