I feel bad for Tanabe, he perseveres so much for something that we know he won't get.
A good way for this arc to turn out is if he realises the fact that she won't ever be interested in him and moves on.
A better way is if he then realises that she's caught up on someone else (i.e. Tomo), and encourages her to be more open with her feelings.
Not that she'd listen.

I didn't mean to imply Misuzu is gay for Tomo, nor do I want that.
If you look at past chapters though, you can see that she isn't happy with the situation surrounding Tomo and Jun.
I swear Carol's even noted that it bothers Misuzu more than she expected.
