Not much of a battle if her strategy is all off. Her trying to appeal to negative aspects of love, like trying to make him jealous by using her non-existent boyfriend, is not going to endear herself to him.
I mean, it sounds like he, or maybe one of his friends or relatives, was badly hurt by relationship drama, and he simply wants none of it in his life.

To be fair, her tsundere behavior doesn't exactly scream "friendship material" either. That said, to be equally fair to her, you can't really expect someone to just go back to the same friendship behavior after being rejected. Honestly, this entire situation is weird, and is probably unhealthy for everyone involved.
