Well, that classmate of theirs labeled her the "unattainable flower", so it could be that it's not she is not interested in other people, but that the other people avoid her, so her being rough around the edges is just a defense mechanism. And, unlike her, MC is an extravert and just treated her as a human being, hence her failed confession.

It is basically a reversal of the more usual trope "loner MMC, outgoing FMC". She is now the introvert loser, desperately trying to dig out herself out of the friend zone.

...more normal than actively avoiding making friends with anyone.
I dunno, i feel so far we've not been shown how HE needs to change. She is clearly on the wrong every time, she's the one that has to change the most. Maybe shown some of his less normal behaviour, like avoiding love stuff, being weird around couples, i dunno... Make them need each other for growing.
