Yeah thats the plus point about him. Atleast he has character. Not one of those kind and overall boring MCs
Both of you hit the nail on the head, even if he's kinda hesitant, he got more balls than all of those spinless romcom MCs, this MC is a breath of fresh air imo

Is it just me, or each new youth-oriented serialisation gets more ecchi...and more stupid?

Not all romcom mcs are like this, though I admit there’s a lot of them are. You’re just not reading the right ones for you especially if you expect some character development for this manga.

Try ‘Osoraku Kanojo wa Ore no Aniki wo Neratteru’ for example.
Notice how my comment doesn't even have the word "all". I was talking in general. I'm already reading that manga btw.

I knew a girl like this. Sadly she’s in jail for manslaughter after she accidentally choked her boyfriend with her thighs. Remember to use a safe word guys.

Points for honesty and being aware that it's gross. Not sure telling the person in question is the most appropriate move but apparently it doesn't matter. Seriously, the MC better understand how crazy lucky he was to get that response. The MC better not think she doesn't like him. Anyone who didn't like him would've reported him to a teacher. Anyone who did just "like" him & was themselves normal would've still distanced themselves and been grossed out.

Not even close.

'You and I Ate Polar Opposites' beats this, for one.
I loved polar opposites, but it feels a little rude to compare. That's one where the story is them dating and experiencing everything that comes with it. There's plenty of similar stories where the dating is the story instead of the teased romance.

Yeah sorry, I’m not reading a story where the protag is a creepy masochist.
:kek:

I need to understand why Rom-com MCs have to be at the literal bottom of the hierarchy. Can't they make them atleast Average? How am I supposed to find a character likeable who doesn't even like himself? If they hate themselves so much, why not put even a least bit of effort? But at the very least he doesn't seem like the NPC kind so that's fine. Hope we some kind of character development on his part.
I don’t even get that whole “school-hierarchy” thing. Maybe it’s a cultural thing, but there was no such thing in my high school days: sure, some people were generally more liked than others, but when there’s like 1500 people in the same building, and none of them has any actual power over the others, there’s simply no way such a simplistic pyramidal structure can appear…

To be the armchair psychologist for a moment - maybe it’s the idea that anyone can project onto him.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to make the MC average then? Because (hopefully) very few people can actually project onto an abject loser
