I just read this all today. I didn't realise initially it was by the same author as killing morph. That's cool, his art and writing have become a lot better.
I wonder what causes someone to get infected? They're all drinking the same local water , right?

Huh... they're actually leaning more into the metaphor of the thing; of Japanese countryside bumpkins living in their naïve dreams and trashy city folk trying to exploit them for their own (more cynical but equally weird) dreams... I wonder if it will end up with everybody in Japan being turned into parasites for the new 'Tunnel Man' and the main character deciding that this is better than them giving up on their dreams...

Killing Morph was a writing train wreck and was written by Masaya Hokazono. Koike Nokuto only did the art for that manga, which carried that story.
