It's a real thing, I do it to ease my cronic constipation issues.

It's usually simple sit up exercises in my case, but in the butler's case, he seems that he may have been doing light movements of the lower abdomen, to get the bowels moving.

I just went back and it was reference back to CH. 14.

Now I don't think it's an actual food since pill bug is an actual bug and MC said he got scolded making it.
So, my guess is he gather lots of bug into a bowl and play a make-believe its a food and it grossed the hell out of the adult(s) and from the picture of the pill bugs, I can imagine that rice bowl is probably cursed. Search the bug up at your own risk.
