I like how they have an aquarium now. Small detail, but pretty nice touch as a reminder of the chapter when Sophie caught all those goldfish.

Ok but now her lakc of knowledge about human cultures makes no sense.

She said herself that she was a human before becoming a vampire. So she definitely should have basic knowledge about food and not eating nails...

But consider these things three
1. She became a vampire at the age of thirteen
2. She became a vampire about 350 years ago
3. She mentioned forgetting things due to her age
So it might be her just remembering that nutrients are important (hence her bringing in dirt) and I'd wager she planned to grind the nails down into powder since she planned to make soup with it. Could be explained by her being told "eat your spinach, it's rich in iron" back then (although I don't know if people cared about that back in the mid 16-hundreds) and her not realising that her mom didn't mean literal pure iron rather than compounds containing iron.
