@Arexty Sophie's actually one of the most accurate vampires I'd ever seen in Japanese media. It's pretty rare for such media to really sink their fangs into the lore. A big one that's usually immediately tossed out is that almost no Japanese vampires are undead. While it's only still hinted at
Sophie's almost surely the rare legitimately undead vampire in anime and manga. In addition to, yeah, having actual lore present. (there are other undead Japanese vampires but I can count them all on the hands of a clumsy yakuza groundskeeper with a malfunctioning woodchipper)
I think the funny part about this manga is that it kinda takes the position that if vampires DID have all those weaknesses, they'd probably be more considered someone profoundly disabled rather than a lord of the night. And yeah, it's super adorable that people take her in stride. We're just that cool with vampires now.
As to whether they could have babies... considering that Sophie is herself an unnatural undead being, I do think THAT would be a bigger obstacle than a couple of science hurdles to jump. But yet dhampirs exist in folklore and they're pretty much reeking with magic so if some laws of nature are getting broken I'm fine with breaking a few more.
