As a leg guy, I was to distracted by her get-up that basically shows her whole legs with that mini-skirt short enough that if this was an echii manga we would have had like 10 panty shots in this chapter alone, cause you could see them panties without any issues with such a short skirt .

He's not really that kind of guy, who would do it while he is at it. Realistically it would be so for most people, but even approaching Nekozane like this, when he was worried about her safety, was a gargantuan effort for him emotionally. He's probably feeling so spent and out of gas he can't pull off another huge thing right after. Unless he can do it half subconsciously, but I doubt he could. He's a bit too much an overanalyser for that. It would be nice if he could call her cute accidentally. It would be even nicer if he could call her a cat, though. She would take that as a supreme compliment.
