He does it all in his head and not in the real world. You call it socially awkward, but that is just being scared of dealing with people. If you want to get to know them, talk to them. Don't just strategise in your head and end up doing nothing. If the conversation stops, ask something else. If it all proves pointless, then just drop her and move on. It may make a good rom-com to keep flogging a dead horse, but you have to ask yourself, what does he see in her if she is on the spectrum? Is he just interested in her looks? If he is also on the spectrum, then, sure, perceiver, but I don't want to read years' worth of manga watching two neurodivergents make slower progress than an iceberg.
