Should the last panel read "I won't lose it again"? It doesn't make sense for Sui to be repeating Mukouda's words in that instance.

I read somewhere else a translation that go way further and it seems that Sui's body automately digest everything inside of it, so the toys gets progressively smaller and fragile, and break while he was playing with them.
Thankfully they find a tanner craftman (who is also one of their client) who restore them (after scolding Mukoda copiously for not taking care of them well enough).

Whatever happens, Mukoda always get the short stick or dragged into danger against his will (but he get also unvolontarily more powerfull at the same time every time), that's one of the running gags of the main novel and its spin offs.
In this case it's mostly because he is too lenient with Sui and never stopped him from being rough with his toys. That's why he got scolded.
