yeah that's kinda how it works? Canabalism is a human concept that only works because morals are pretty uniquely human (and based on safe practices for the most part)
Human meat also sucks in terms of nutrition so I'm not surprised it's taboo, and the majority of deaths in history have been disease. Eating someone who died from a sickness can just transmit it. More animals are way less frail than humans and get away with that. Animals eat their young for sustenance more often than we realize.
