Here's the complete description I'm looking for, if you're feeling up for it:
Besides that: an actual, serious action manga with a female MC and a probably mostly female cast that isn't borderline hentai in terms of artstyle and characters!? AND ALSO DOESN'T HAVE A ROMANCE/YURI TAG!!!!!!!!!? Is this even allowed!? I didn't think it possible. Truly one in a million! I'd be surprised if you could even get a top three together fitting that description.
"Action manga" here refers to a fighting manga.
I was curious about op's idea but I couldn't ask under their profile, as this person hasn't connected since 2021. :qq:

And I also can't think of any title, literally zero, so any help is appreciated.
Please feel free to participate in this thread!

If it's too hard, don't worry, you can include manhua and manhwa in your selection.

Also, if you have anything fitting the description but it has the yuri tag, please share, it just won't be an official top 3. :meguusmug:

Yeah, Teppuu's great. I don't know about my top 3 specifically, but I have a soft spot for hitwoman series like The Violence Action or wild revenge plots like Misu Misou. Honorable mention to my girl Monko from Renjoh Desperado, disqualified pretty heavily due to the "no romance" and "no sexy artstyle" conditons.

There's actually a pretty long thread with a lot of varied suggestions for action manga with a female MC and no/little romance, if you're looking for recs. Many of the ones users list play pretty fast and loose with what counts as action, mind you.

I'll check out what you've sent and get back to you, thank you.

Yeah that's why I didn't want to bother with the flood of stuff that's only restricted by female mc with no romance, I also know some (even if not much,) it's not something that I'm specially looking into right now.

Action manga yes, but I'm more interested in the "fighting" style specifically, although I'd be okay with broadly martial arts.

The distinction I'm making between the two is that in the "fighting" genre, you're not always about to murder your opponent, whereas in broad martial arts, it could mean anything including courting death simulators (manhuas for the most part), meaning a lot of mindless killing, and that's not really a criteria I'm looking for here, but you can still include it if you can't find a better fit.

Wait, so are you trying to make an actual ranking, and want suggestions for a list of nominees? Or do you just want people to list their Top 3 action series with female MCs?

I misunderstood what you meant by "fighting" completely. Do you mean martial arts series with female protagonists that don't go full into Hagure Idol territory?

Oh ok I understand now. As it's written, no romance, no yuri, so I think sex is kinda out the the question lmao.
So something like Hagure Idol wouln't work.
Just something like Teppuu is fine. A bit of killing is fine, I don't care about gore, just not killing random characters for no reasons.

I actually confused you there with my long response from before :ROFLMAO:

I am indeed trying to make an actual ranking, but I won't judge anyone's taste and say I disqualify your ranking or anything, I'll just take your top three and see if I like it.

At some point I'll have my own top three by then. :)

So only manga and action packed FMC without romance? Then it can't be Frieren, Danberu nan Kilo Moteru or Girls und Panzer (and similar) since they lean on the SoL and Comedy side, a shame because there are many of those without romance. The only one that fits all the requisites that I can remember is Magic Knight Rayearth, it had an anime adaptation, a videogame and there's a planned remake, if you can stomach some 90s shoujo art then give it a shot to both the manga and the anime.

Honestly, The Violence Action feels more like a comedy and slice of life than a true action manga. There are some good action scenes though, but they're not really thrilling when they're done with the main character, as she always seems like being a puppet for a good show.

Hence why I wouldn't put that title in my top three, even though it's a very good and relaxed read.
As you said, this one (Renjoh Desperado) is disqualified too. :meguuusad:
And, well... I dislike mindless violence, so I didn't like reading Misu Misou either...

Here's something I liked with the revenge idea: Reverberation. I rated it 8/10 at the time I read it.

So yeah, I'm not nearing a top three for now. I'll prolly check the thread you recommended me, perhaps I may find something to my liking.

In terms of tone, Shut Hell might be more up your alley then, by the sound of it. Big, sweeping action-adventure featuring reincarnating super-Mongols. Definitely very light on the romance, but the 'FMC' angle gets blurry as the series goes on due to the whole reincarnation shenanigans.

On the opposite end of the historical setting/action FMC spectrum there's Reiri too, although I think there's a little romance there. I remember it being also lighter on the action too, although that could just be because it's much shorter.

I think finding a good and tense action story with a female mc and without any romance is almost impossble.

I read some good stories with female mcs which have pretty thrilling action, but they'll all have romance down the line, even if it's not the main part of the plot.

If I had to make a top 3 I'd even place Joou Heika no Isekai Strategy before Teppu, even though it was a worse read for me overall, because the action is way more interesting.
In Teppu what's interesting is how the characters develop and less how they fight.

Most of the stuff without romance with female mcs are usually comedies, which lack any tension and thrill when there are some fighting scenes, it's more like an entertaining show, and it's not serious enough like the previous person (and me too) would have wanted.

Probably because fighting manga is called the same as the demographic that all main characters must be male. And I think it's a good thing, because I'd not be reading those series.

I think it's a bad thing when there's not so much diversity. But it makes sense why such a topic isn't popular, because it's also mostly unpopular in real life. I can't ask authors to start writing about this when there's not much to write on.

I still think it's a shame that's there's not many variations to this topic compared to male mcs.
I'm not planning to be a writer so I probably won't change that either :lul::02:

but Joou Heika is not a fighting manga?
... A war between coutries isn't a fight between countries? Skirmishes aren't fights?

If by fighting, you only think of a sport competition, then there's no way to even make a top 100 manga/manhwa/manhua with female mcs and fighting even if they could have romance in it.

oh, I thought you meant strictly speaking fighting like Teppu
so it's back to just action manga?

like the details here is unnecessary then?

Well, I wanted to give more personal input about my preferences but you can disregard it.

Fighting also includes martial art, so anything fantastic with cultivation and such could work. I just don't like the mindless killing there is in this type of work, but it'd still be fine to include them in the top three.

Although, even if those stories could fit the criteria too, not many or even almost none of them have no romance while having a female main character.

Well, perhaps I have quirky tastes x)

My Kairo -> I hate artsyle which shows wide opened eyes and blushing characters all the time. Quite a few manga take a hit from that haha, mostly romances and suggestive stuff.

Yae no Sakura -> The story couldn't draw me in, primarily since Japan's historical culture isn't really something I'm actively searching for, so if there's nothing else piquing my interest, then I won't continue reading.
The Last Order -> Same problem as the first one, the gag of drawing an expressionless face around too much blushing and giggling characters each and every chapter gets old very fast, since it's a pretty popular way of drawing manga, no matter the genre.
So I don't even need to read one chapter to recognise the style and to know it will annoy me :ROFLMAO:

If I find the art style annoying, whatever the plot might be, I'll drop it in a heartbeat.
Most of the time, when the approach used isn't expressing what's happening in the story well, it's because the plot also isn't elaborated enough to necessitate a good drawing technique.
On top of that, it's quite common to have goated art coupled with a brain-dead intrigue, but I won't really go into more details about which types of trope annoy me and for what reasons in this post.

Immortal Hounds-> Kinda the same with the first and third manga but a bit better, because there are two layers: the comic here is to make the joyful character not blush all the time but make them cry or despair really hard to give a lot of contrast or a strong emotion, when it's blantatly crafted to kill people just for the emotion spike.
The other character has always the emotionless or pained face, then either cries or gets angry a lot when someone close to them dies or whatever (gets kidnapped for example). It's also manipulated for the strong emotion spike.
Here apparently it's a turnover of these two types, which are constantly killing each other.
If the design of your plot is to induce an emotion spike and not build anything for the long run, it's not something worth reading (imo).
That's one of the reasons why I dislike mindless killing, it usually doesn't create anything interesting for the scenario and can even be recycled almost every chapter, rendering the plot brain-dead.
Of course if you want to enjoy some short-lived entertainment, it's your right to do so, and I won't judge you, as I also do this from time to time.

Mahou Shoujo Asuka -> Same as the one above, although there are more characters, displaing more than just one emotionless and one joyful character in a loop, but it's still the same, trying to create a show for entertainment, which is stopping me from immersing myself in the story.
Story, which is showing us supposedly happy characters (magical girls, all smile), then has them drawn with stern faces, and then people get hurt a bit to bring in a more stern and tense atmosphere, just to make us sympathise with the characters, like oh no, what terrible past they have and life circumstances they have...
If a work is too full of pain, I don't like reading it. And trying to give it the "all happy magical girl comedy" as a pain-relief inbetween the painful bits is in really bad taste, if only that setting is supposed to lift up the mood.

I don't know what your limit is with mindless killing, but these ones definitely have those
Welp, you tried x)

If there's a buildup and there are backgroud stories around some murder or mass murder, I won't mind reading a story with those elements.

Interesante, Interesante. I'll always go Jojo Stone Ocean. The whole reason I started JOJO because I saw Ermes, she was mystifying, the weird hair, the eyes, her voice. She was so beautiful. Then Jolyne! In the end the journey to Stone Ocean was worth it, I had to go from Part 1 to 6, and now I'm at 9 of course, and have reread SBR practically each season of the year now!
Stone Ocean isn't really given... I wouldn't say it's underrated, but it's given more poo than it deserves, because I think it's magnificent. It's some the most bizarre bizarreness in Jojo, until we get to Gappy of course. And Jolyne, she starts out confused bewildered distraught but, proves this strong, capable, and passionate and courageous woman who powers through... through a Literal Stone Ocean of Hell.
Interesting too, I say Ermes and Jolyne were my draw because they were beautiful. But, it wasn't in... The Nami and Robin Bongo way, or anything. They look like people who could exist. Especially as Araki's art develops, the women, do get a bit sexier later on as the series went over to Seinen, but there was still this... Naturalness to them. The story affixes itself to her journey to retaking her father's power and soul and stopping who took them, and culminates all six parts, the big journey to finally ending that final vestige of evil.
What's lovely about JOJO to is you can start from any part, they're all so different. I hate anthologies, but this series retains enough familiar elements to not seem... mismanaged. And it tries new, and bizarre things, and that's what's expected!
The most... lovey dovey stuff in the series is Anastasia's Unrequited love for Jolyne, and that's really it. Jolyne does say something goofy about snails later on, but that's about it XD.
Now a second, a second... Definitely won't say Gorgeous Irene, another Araki story, though a lot more... weird. Hmm... Freiren isn't really action too much... Hmm... Haven't started Isshou Senkin...

DAANG only one!? I feel bad...
I'm reminded though, yet again of JOJO, I remember reading somewhere that Araki really wanted Part 5 to be centered around a woman, but I guess the company didn't want that. So he made it a man and made every character dress like models, and made them all dainty too. But, in a way that push changed his artstyle forever, and in a good direction I think.
