Yeah, probably didn't need to dig quite so deep to the origin of that one, I just get focused on 'oh yeah they used to do that in Asia for criminals' (and in some cases it was done in western europe) and completely spaced on 'and then it was a meme for pets for a while'.

If Goro has zero libido now, why would he have any later? Kogane's luck in falling in love might have been poor. They have lived together for quite a good while now. He has even visited her fantasy village to meet her parents. Clearly he's not too attracted to her sexually. Naturally we can see he otherwise enjoys her company and treats her well (aside from not fulfilling his nightly responsibilities), but Kogane doesn't want a platonic relationship. Unfortunate indeed.

They met near the end of April (chap 1), and the tanuki arc was middle of August. It's now end of August (chap 67 which you haven't seen yet so I'm cheating). So so far it's been 4 months. Slow progression, but it is actually progressing (unlike some series). And yes, I do keep track of this [poop] in series continuity notes (in Joplin), any lazy TL does so we won't have to flip through the entire damn series again when this comes up! Tsumiki Ogami loves flashing back 30 chapters, uhhhh where was that?

I don't bother with an exhaustive writeup (I'm lazy!), just a couple lines, like for this time it's

c066 - Mugi comes over, plays video games with Kogane, jokes about zombie wandering into village, inari sushi lore, Mugi eats too fast, Kogane forces Mugi to weigh herself, sign of shame. Mugi collapsed once from onions in onigiri.

I mention any chars appearing (Goro and Kogane are just implied for this series) and if there's anything specific, like dates, or 'this is the first time we've seen Douji' or 'Mogami is saijyou inari-sama' those definitely go in.

At least that gives you some filtering when searching. So if there's a Toda-kun ref that's at least a limited number of chapters.
