Not really the correct example imo....termites function based on the hive mind, that means if the queen is a bitch, they all are bitches...human, on the other hand, act based on their own thinking
(And besides, I'd consider me defending my home from a termite nest more like a war between kindgoms, rather than an act of god)
And I think gods can't just wipe a kingdom for no reason...I mean, they need mortals...iirc, there are quite a lot of goddesses that are almost "dying" because they have no follower and thus no power/energy

Anyway, my point was that killing the whole kingdom, where there could be people just living and minding their business that didn't know the 3 idiots were about to fuck everyone lives, it's a bit too much
And Kousuke's punishment, while it will inevitably ruin their lives anyway, still gives them the possibility of being alive, leave the land that's going to rot away and start anew somewhere else....but they will be alive (and possibly cursing the 3 idiots from morning till night lol)
Gods need mortals, but not those mortals and making a grave example of unfaithful would inspire faith (fear) in other kingdoms. While humans do have the capacity to think, the gods can only interact through their temples through methods not as direct as a personal hotline, so the kingdom might as well be a hive mind with the temple bishops as their rulers.

Kousuke is on the ground, so he can do more precise interactions to actually pull people away from their rulers and his subordinates have direct communication to ask gods for their opinions.

A war between kingdoms would involve diplomacy, and I doubt you negotiate with termites although for all I know, you could.

Yes please need more mangas where the antagonistic nation gets punished by having the whole land salted and devastated, getting sick of the "Depose the king and pope and let the non corrupt heir take it's place and the system will change (for 2 generations before they return to the old tricks)".
Funny enough Yuiitsu Muni no Saikyou Tamer: Koku no Subete no Guild de Monzenbarai sareta kara, Takoku ni Itte Slow Life Shimasu / The Strongest Tamer: Rejected by Every Guild in the Kingdom, so I Moved Abroad for a Slow Life

Straight up in the very 1st chapter, pg.19, a kingdom and its people (especially from the guilds there) and by extension the country that mocked the MC since they couldn't believe him as a "Phantasma Tamer", got their just deserts when he decided move to another country to try again with both his Phantasmas (and all the other Phantasmas that adores him, following behind them), leading to said country's destruction all at once
(plus, they revoked & confiscated the all the blessings, skills, etc. that the other Phantasmas had granted to some people the moment they all left to follow the MC lmao)
(also, imagine the Phantasmas like the Goddesses here)

Its harsh punishment yes but honestly
it could be worse which is funny. Like Kousuke is honestly letting you off WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY To easy
Yo even SILVIA was ready to nuke their nation, an she wasnt hiding that one bit with her word choice - "king arthur, is this the official stance your kingdom is taking? So be it"

Btw, isn't this story really messed up. Like, OK, Empire was blasphemous, sure. Empire continue its way for a long and nothing happens, only reinforcing their beliefs that Gods aren't necessary at all. It all continue, until, without warning, Gods become pissed and go "Aktualy, you can't exists without Gods, bye!". Like maybe a warning?
because there necessary step for god to descend on earth, i think the manga not yet explained it might be next chapter but for god to descend there some necessary checklist which this Gate kingdom fulfill now also to be reminded the second one where god blessing taken off sure the god did look leave it alone but when the king proclaimed himself as god that when the god descend so i think in this case the necessary check already fulfilled so God can interfere directly
funny thing in WN it pretty much explained how the gate kingdom barely fulfil the check for god descent (as punishment) for all their shenanigan here even Eris already said Silvia already gave them a way out for it, Eris even lamented how history often repeated albeit its luck for god to able to descend on earth she hoping something like this no happen again

There are differences but in the WN the tower master wanted Kousuke's knowledge about towers, so I think this version wanted the same thing.
If you read past his BS, that's exactly what he wanted. He's basically asking to share notes in his own roundabout way.
Thats exactly that. It was stated in the Last Chapter.

And because Kousuke refused to do so, the whole thing escalated.
I get the feeling that if he asked in a more direct way and just out of curiosity, he might actually get what he wanted.

My bad I totally forgot about the previous chapter, dunno if it was published last month or I'm just losing my memory.
I just wanted to point out that those over the top villains are not that exaggerated since they lack vital info we as readers have.

Why do people bother to fight against the MC...
That's why Kousuke is there in the first place. He's the Chosen One...

...The one chosen to bait all the inbred idiots into coming to try and take what isn't theirs, and get their fucking shit absolutely wrecked in doing so.

The thing is that there are a lot of people who, despite having their literal gods descend and declare him to be a living god on their world, still think that he's just some newcomer that they can somehow take advantage of because he's not wise to their ways.

Of course, what they don't realize is that Kousuke probably used to work in a Black Company that was an even worse pit of vipers than this, just with much lower stakes.

If I remember correctly, it isn't orbital, it fires from the top of the tower and travels in a straight line. Which means it does have to worry about things like the curvature of the world and line-of-sight. So depending on where this other continent is and how big this world is, it might not have line-of-sight to the continent, much less to any particular target.
Actually, that world is a flat world. Which means their big-badda-boom has effectively unlimited range. Check out the very first chapter, page 33: https://mangadex.org/chapter/6d504a69-9d9f-45ef-8c61-e552645aad96/33

Huh, I never internalized that fact. I did a re-read last year, but reading that chapter now I'm surprised at how I just have no memory of that fact. I guess it just hasn't come up since that initial bit of world building.

That definitely makes the range better, but I think there's still the caveats of attack angles and line-of-sight to worry about. Maybe some targets happen to have a mountain in the way.

Might just be a case of tolerance toward collateral damage. Meaning, a mountain may not even function as a shield, but it could be a deterrent if boring a hole through it adversely affects an unrelated party

In the end, this punishment was indeed pretty lenient as far as I can tell. Nobody is to directly die: the ships can be evacuated, the tower manager will be disowned and the country can forge bonds with other temples.

Basically, villains too dumb to live.
If the religious power structure weakens or dies in these countries, merchants will move out and trade will stiffen and halt. People will die a lot over this. And the civil unrest will lead to more deaths. It’ll be sad for regular people.

[First time seeing this manga and decide to read the current chapter]

Are they really GODS or just group of people with advance technology?

Why are they punishing the whole country for the foolish actions of the few?

If Something like this was already happened multiple times in the past, why not just ruled humanity for themselves so they can guide humanity for the better?

They explicitly didn't this time.
Though punishing the leaders can cascade into consequences for their people, this is not a necessity here.

Apparently, there are rules for the gods to manifest in the human world.
Not sure about the details, but apparently they can't just manifest all the time, preventing full-time rule.
However, they are trying to give continual guidance, but they can only communicate on a regular basis with oracles and priests, which means that these few special people can (and often do, despite warnings) abuse their position as intermediaries between humans and gods.
This is why they need to do a shock punishment at times to get forgetful humanity back in line.

At least, this is how I read the story so far.
