Does the monstrous form/image on page 21 not resemble the endocrine system of the human body? To speak of Susano'o's personality and behavior, it's very hormonal (fight and fuck). Personification may not be the best way to describe it but he is definity acts human in a primal and exaggerated way.
I think all of the Amatsu-kami's true forms are based on parts of the human body. In Chapter 26.5 we see that Amaterasu's true form looks like a heart and her companions look like a fetus and a brain.

Every Amatsu was shown to have a "true form" that embodies a part of the physical body, and just like you pointed out... if we analyze each one we may see that the personalities are tied to that.

Now... is it like that because it is just another layer of the "personification" or... does it mean that at least the Amatsu are the body parts of one single being that is so powerful that its divided parts have developed their own sentience and are all transcendent beings?

Just imagine the implications, Miyazaki's level of concept, and I say this as the highest of praises.

I wonder if, and how Susanoo would specifically play a role in stopping Ozuno's master besides just being ridiculously strong because he's a kami.

His "monstrous" form is based off the paranasal sinus. It's why he keeps talking about how things smell, like good scents, how he calls people he likes fragrant, and the scent of war.

I know it's cliché, but man, I enjoy the "love rival makes the other guy jealous and they fight" trope.

So glad this manga is back!

Well, no. Amaterasu actually cares for and is quite capable of understanding humans compared to her peers, at least from two chapters ago. Also, Ho-no-Kigunushi (the giant salamander) is both very humane in his outlook and literally sacrificed himself for his worshippers. It's also hinted that Sukuna-Bikona REALLY cares for humanity, which is ironically why he wasn't chosen. Basically this whole mess happened because Ookuninushi missed the hint and didn't choose the most obvious candidate floating in front of him.
You’re telling me he was meant to chose Amaterasu? I doubt he would choose her after how she took his lands, he would rather chose someone who was related to himself and yet meet the conditions.

Yes. That's my point. Ookuninushi didn't choose Amaterasu because he still held on to the Descent War grudge (literally), completely ignoring the signaling Amaterasu was giving him. It isn't any kind of strategizing. He's just emotionally unable to make the choice even with the fate of all Izumo (and Takamagahara) at stake.
