Thanks for the TL. What a great flashback into the history giving us a little more of Ryuuboushi and Azuma No Miya. Even with the recent weft crossing and his death having already occurring in the world where our merry gang is now. Surely we haven't seen the end, end of Azuma No Miya? Have we? I hope not. He's a great character and I feel like he might have some more story to tell. Weft crossing and time travel/timelines, you can't really ever discount what can occur here in Touge Oni. One can hope. With Ryuuboushi I'm more unsure if we will see more of him. It wouldn't surprise me. Especially with how closely he's tied to Azuma No Miya. But him heading back across the weft to the world stripped of mantra. It just felt more permanent to me than Azumas death in the past of this world. IDK. Just rambling here.

We needed this one, Jikimya did have enough screen time, still had good presence, but... his emotions weren't clear.

I feel for him, he clearly was not the reason of schism, he inherited the insecurities of a rough man and was pushed into the role by the machinations of those around.

You know... now that I think about it... Azuma-no-Miya's reason for starting the war isn't clear, but comparing him to his nephew... I think it is the same situation... enhanced by his third eye too.

Hmm... maybe the eye is the greater reason, I feel that if it wasn't that pushing him, he could have maneuvered himself well enough to avoid court pressure, so that he wouldn't have needed to go to war against his nephew.

I do appreciate these little chapters because they give us more insight into characters who would otherwise feel very shallow. I can see why Jikimiya would willingly go back to the world without mantra; after 30 years of not having any real pressures and being able to devote himself to poetry, plus his general "maaaaan this is such a PAIN" attitude (which is really just a mask for his insecurities and fears), a slow-moving world without wars or strife would be impossible to give up!

Still, I hope we see him again somehow. I assume that if Azuma-no-miya ascended the throne after the war in the weft-crossed time line, then that time line's Jikimiya is dead or imprisoned(?), which is a bummer. :(

Thank you for the fast translations!

Thank you so much for including the source for Jikimiya‘s poetry!!! The historical allegories in this story is always a treat!
